Kuwaiti Detectives Hunt Moroccan Cybercrime Ring Targeting Officials

Private detectives, originally from Kuwait, have launched a search campaign. It concerns Moroccans involved in electronic sexual harassment activities and defrauding large sums of money from Kuwaiti officials and wealthy businessmen.
As part of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) linked to international law firms, the detectives are tasked with collecting as much information as possible about the victims and the methods used in the fraud, before filing complaints with the security services in Morocco.
Several high-ranking officials and wealthy Kuwaiti businessmen have been victims of the actions of Moroccan networks specialized in electronic harassment. Generally, according to Assabah, these are well-known personalities, often omnipresent on social networks, who accept friend requests from fake profiles. They start by engaging in mundane conversations, then invite the victims to film themselves using the camera, before blackmailing them later.
80% of the individuals who have been the subject of complaints are based in the Oued Zem region, 15% in Khouribga and 4% in Bejaad. Most of the harassers blackmail the victims, forcing them to send money in exchange for the deletion of the videos from YouTube channels.
On the other hand, the assistance of NGOs remains invaluable for the victims of electronic harassment. By collaborating with the Cybercrime Unit, which has modern technologies to identify the harassers, the organizations have helped to significantly reduce cases of electronic sexual harassment.
