Morocco’s Tamuda Bay Gears Up for Summer Tourism Surge

The authorities of the M’diq-Fnideq prefecture have launched a series of initiatives aimed at developing the "Tamuda Bay" coastline, which welcomes many Moroccan and foreign tourists, as well as Moroccans from Europe, during the summer season.
The "Tamuda Bay" coastline stretches for about 35 kilometers, from the city of Martil to the village of Belyounech, located at the eastern end of the Strait of Gibraltar. This region is one of the most popular destinations for Moroccan summer visitors, due to its clear marine waters, calm currents, golden sand, and rock formations that offer a unique swimming and diving experience. Visitors can spend good times on beaches such as Martil, Cabo Negro, M’diq, Kabila, Smir, Tres Piedras, among others, which are very busy during the summer. The region is also home to three marinas that attract boat and yacht owners, reinforcing its status as a luxury tourist destination.
Local authorities are working to improve the quality of tourist services in the region before the arrival of tourists and MREs during this upcoming high tourist season, which will promote a recovery in commercial activities and help boost the local economy and create seasonal jobs. All stakeholders are mobilized to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and preservation of the region’s environmental and natural assets, guaranteeing the sustainability and long-term appeal of tourism in the region. With this in mind, measures are taken at the beginning of each year to develop urban spaces and public squares, and improve public services such as lighting, water and electricity distribution, etc.
In a statement to MAP, the head of the Department of Economic Affairs and Coordination at the M’diq-Fnideq prefecture assured that measures have been taken regarding the organization of beaches to ensure a warm welcome for visitors and summer vacationers and encourage them to return each summer to the region. Fourteen thematic commissions responsible for monitoring and recording all remarks relating to the aesthetics and attractiveness of the region have been created for this purpose, he said, adding that the prefecture’s services will work daily to guarantee safety, health, and hygiene conditions during the summer season.
The official did not fail to emphasize the importance of organizing large-scale cultural, sports, and artistic activities during the period to contribute to the attractiveness of this tourist destination. The beaches of Tamuda Bay seem ready to welcome national and foreign tourists, as well as Moroccans from Europe who flock to the kingdom to spend their summer holidays as part of Operation Marhaba, which starts on June 15 and ends on September 15.
