Moroccan Farm Worker Drowns in Durance River While Retrieving Sandal

A 34-year-old Moroccan agricultural worker drowned on Friday in the Durance between Orgon and Cavaillon on the Bouches-du-Rhône side.
The evening by the Durance ended in tragedy. While a 34-year-old Moroccan agricultural worker was refreshing himself near the river and washing clothes with another, he drowned while trying to retrieve his sandal carried away by the current, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré. The thirty-year-old did not know how to swim.
Upon arrival on the scene, the firefighter divers managed to bring him back to the surface. The police of Cavaillon and the gendarmes of the Orgon company also went to the scene of the tragedy.
