Tragic Drowning: Moroccan Child Dies in Spanish Municipal Pool

A Moroccan child drowned on Friday in a municipal pool in Móra d’Ebre, Tarragona. The minor and his family, passing through the city, had decided to spend the afternoon at the pool.
The local police were alerted to the incident and quickly dispatched officers accompanied by emergency service members. They tried to resuscitate the minor. In vain. The Moroccan boy drowned in one of the three deepest areas of the pool, the town hall specified, ensuring that the facilities comply with all safety measures.
The mayor of the municipality, Rubén Biarnés, declared two days of official mourning and ordered the closure of the pool this weekend. Two weeks ago, an 11-year-old child, also of Moroccan origin, had drowned in the municipal pool of La Puebla de Alfindén, in Zaragoza. In 5th grade at the Los Albares school, he was on a school trip. All efforts were made to try to revive him. In vain.
