Fatal Car Crash in Antwerp Claims Life of Belgian-Moroccan Teen, Brother Critically Injured

A Belgian of Moroccan origin died Tuesday in a car accident that occurred in Meerhout, in the Antwerp region. His brother was also injured in the tragedy.
According to the local police of the Geel-Laakdal-Meerhout zone, cited by Gazet van Antwerpen, Mohamed "Mo" Bentala was driving his car when it ended up in a ditch. The circumstances of this accident are still unknown, but the police believe the 19-year-old young man suddenly braked, probably surprised by another vehicle. He would then have skidded before leaving the road and ending up in the ditch.
His 13-year-old younger brother, who was with him, was seriously injured. The emergency services who went to the scene of the accident had to extract him from the vehicle. "The driver’s side suffered a violent blow. Unfortunately, we could not do more for him... He died on the spot," said the fire department spokesman.
As soon as the accident was announced, several family members went to the scene. They were taken care of by a psychological cell.
