Moroccan ’Faith Healers’ Face Rape Charges as Victims Speak Out

The Moroccan justice system is regularly seized of cases of rape committed by "raqi" on their clients. Several of these charlatans have ended up in prison after their victims filed complaints. Here is a reminder of the case of the charlatan from Tangier.
The most recent case occurred in Tangier two weeks ago. Two sisters were victims of the same charlatan who practices "prophetic medicine" and discovered it much later. This "raqi" drugged them and raped them when they lost consciousness. The two sisters also discovered that they are not the only victims of the rapist charlatan and therefore decided to file a complaint against him to prevent other women from falling into his trap, reports the daily Assabah.
Another case was recorded in Berkane, where a "raqi" was arrested after being beaten by the brothers of a woman he allegedly raped. The "raqi" profession is increasingly attracting scammers who do not hesitate to abuse the women who consult them. No special training or any authorization to practice is required to get into this business, which seems to bring in a lot of money.
A young man from Casablanca addicted to drugs approached a "raqi" from his neighborhood to treat his addiction. But noticing the money this one was easily pocketing, as well as the beautiful women who came to consult, he decided to embark on the adventure. Quickly, he sets up a place, learns a few verses, changes his look and the trick is done. He proclaims himself a "raqi" and has started to receive many women in consultation, some of whom already accuse him of rape.
