Moroccan TV Faces Financial Crisis Amid Calls for Improved Content Quality

According to a member of the Communication and Culture Commission within the Parliament, Moroccan television must raise the level of content offered to the Moroccan public. Far from being attributed to the perpetual financial crises, this state of affairs reflects the negative image that has always been transmitted to all citizens.
Moroccan television tries to mask the reality, adds the same source, by measuring the level of audience, although this is not a determining factor. The priority lies in the implementation of an emergency rescue strategy, through the signing of a program contract with the State, as stipulated in Article 51 of the Law on Audiovisual Communication.
This Law allows the State’s subsidy to be linked to the program contract established with the national companies. The member of the Commission specifies that "the subsidies received by the public television stations, in particular the Soread 2M company, violate this law, since they do not have a justifying program contract".
