Moroccan Embassy in Kyiv Responds to Hundreds of Calls Amid Russia-Ukraine Crisis

Mustapha Baitas, government spokesman, said that the Moroccan diplomatic corps in Ukraine, composed of 28 diplomats, is still on site. In total, nearly 800 phone calls from Moroccans received since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
During a press briefing held on Thursday, February 24 after the government council meeting, Mustapha Baitas said that the Moroccan diplomatic services in Ukraine had received 795 calls from Moroccans present on Ukrainian territory. The Moroccan embassy in Kiev had set up two toll-free numbers (0800502683 to call from Ukraine), and 0537663300 (to call from Morocco) on February 14 to facilitate communication during this Russia-Ukraine crisis.
According to diplomatic sources, these two telephone lines have been under heavy pressure since the announcement by Russian President Vladimir Putin of a "military operation" in Ukraine on Thursday to defend the pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country. "The Moroccan diplomatic corps in Ukraine, composed of 28 diplomats, is still carrying out its missions, closely monitoring the situation and receiving telephone calls from students and all Moroccan nationals," Mustapha Baitas also assured.
