Moroccan Eco-Village Sidi Kaouki Named Among World’s Best Tourist Destinations by UNWTO

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) classifies Sidi Kaouki - an eco-tourist village located near Essaouira - among the best tourist villages in the world in 2021.
At its general assembly held in Madrid, Spain, on December 2, the UNWTO unveiled the list of the "Best Tourist Villages 2021". This list includes 44 villages from 32 countries on five continents. Among them is the eco-tourist village of Sidi Kaouki, located near Essaouira.
In a press release, the UNWTO justified the choice of these villages by the fact that they "offer opportunities and stimulate sustainable development". The villages on the list have committed to "developing tourism in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," the organization added. Moreover, these villages "stand out for their natural and cultural resources," and are engaged in "innovative and transformative actions". Other selection criteria: health, safety and security.
"Tourism can be a driver of social cohesion and inclusion," said Zurab Pololikashvili, UNWTO Secretary-General.
