Moroccan Drug Trafficker Arrested for Violent Rape and Narcotics Charges

Elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Moulay Bousselham (Souk El Arba du Gharb) brought, on Tuesday, April 15, before the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Kenitra, a drug trafficker. He is being prosecuted for rape with violence on a 26-year-old married woman, and for attempted international drug trafficking.

A 26-year-old married woman had gone last Sunday to the gendarmerie brigade to file a complaint against an individual who would have raped her at her home in the absence of her husband. The latter was working in the agricultural fields in Laawamra in the province of Larache. The victim described her tormentor and presented a medical certificate attesting that she had indeed suffered violence.

The investigations carried out proved fruitful: the alleged rapist was located, surrounded and arrested without difficulty. According to the investigators, he had taken advantage of the absence of the victim’s husband to break into their home. He had made the young woman believe that his aunt had asked him to check on her.

After his arrest, the gendarmes discovered in their databases that the suspect was the subject of a wanted notice in a recent case of attempted trafficking of several tons of chira in the Akla region. A total of eight individuals, including four soldiers on the coastal strip of the region, had been arrested as part of this case.

Cornered by his accomplices, the man confesses. He and his accomplices will be brought before the investigating judge of Souk El Arba du Gharb for attempted international drug trafficking and corruption.
