Moroccan Diesel Prices Expected to Drop in October, Expert Predicts

Diesel prices could see a slight drop by October, to the satisfaction of many Moroccans who have been calling for this. An expert provides some insights.
According to an expert, "diesel prices internationally could, as shown by current market data, see a drop in the coming days, which will only be reflected in Moroccan stations from October," reports Médias24. The general trend in oil prices since the end of August, going from $104 to $92, could favor this expected drop. According to all forecasts, this price could still fall due to fears of an economic recession "looming over the world after the sharp rise in interest rates in the United States and Europe".
But the rise of the dollar, the continuation of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Russian decisions and the reactions of OPEC countries risk changing the situation. For example, on September 5, OPEC+ members (including Russia) unanimously decided to cut their daily production by 100,000 barrels per day in October due to fears of a recession in Western economies.
For now, the price of diesel is maintained at an average of 14.90 dirhams in Morocco, with a difference of a few cents between distributors. As for the price of gasoline, it varies between 14.60 DH and 14.75 DH per liter. It could drop below the 14 DH mark.
