Morocco Fuel Prices Drop: Diesel and Gasoline Set for Significant Decrease

The price of diesel and gasoline should record a decrease this Saturday, October 1st, due to a decrease in the price of a barrel internationally.
This decrease is in the order of 1 dirham for diesel, which should bring it back to less than 14 dirhams in most Moroccan service stations. In total, a decrease of nearly 3 dirhams has been noted since last July.
Moroccan motorists driving on gasoline are not forgotten as a decrease of nearly 70 cents is also expected at the pump at the beginning of the month.
In a note made public last Monday, the Competition Council recommended urgently reviewing, as a priority and in depth, the framework and the mode of regulation of the diesel and gasoline markets, further relaxing the conditions of access to the upstream and downstream diesel and gasoline markets by accelerating the implementation of the recommendations issued by the Competition Council in 2019 and reviewing the legal and regulatory framework governing the contractual relations between distribution companies and service stations.
