Moroccan Court Upholds Dissolution of Controversial Cultural Association Racines

The dissolution of the Racines Association was confirmed on Tuesday, April 16 by the Casablanca Court of Appeal.
The conviction of the Association for dissolution at first instance was handed down last December. Racines is thus accused of "organizing an activity including discussions humiliating institutions with insults directed against Islam, public officials [...] and the expression of political opinions far removed from the purpose of the association," recalls the site telquel.ma.
The Association had "hosted in its Mers Sultan premises the sixth episode of the 1 dîner 2 cons show entitled "the epic of the nihilists", and broadcast on YouTube in August 2018," adds TelQuel.
Several actions are to be credited to Racines, which will nevertheless have succeeded in building a certain foothold in the associative milieu. We can mention, among other actions, the "Racines carrées" program, initiated in 2017 and which aims to be an incubator of cultural structures to support young project leaders throughout the process. But also, the organization of activities to encourage a change of mentality, through its plays "B7al B7al" and "Ma belle école".
