Moroccan Court Sentences 70-Year-Old to 20 Years for Sexually Abusing Teenage Daughter

This case has shocked more than one person in the city of Tetouan, known for its tranquility and observance of good morals.

According to Article19, which reports the facts, it was last February that the victim’s mother noticed signs of psychological distress in her daughter’s behavior. She thus decided to pursue her curiosity and discovered that the sexual perpetrator was none other than her own father. Indeed, he took advantage of his wife’s absence to force the little girl, under threat of a knife, to have sexual intercourse with him.

An attitude that leaves no one indifferent, forcing the mother to file a complaint with the Royal Gendarmerie of Zinat, in the vicinity of Tetouan, which arrested the old man.

At the end of his trial, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Tetouan ordered a sentence of 20 years in prison against the septuagenarian, also requiring him to pay 100,000 dirhams in compensation to his minor daughter, Hespress reports.

"Justice has proven by this verdict that it was fair and firm, especially since the defendant, who is the victim’s father, exerted psychological and material pressure on the latter and her mother to abandon the proceedings," said Lahcen Akbayou, President of the Al Karama Association for the Defense of Human Rights, who joined the case as a civil party.
