Morocco Court Sentences Father and Uncle to 20 Years for Teen Rape

The father and uncle who had raped a teenager were each sentenced to 20 years in prison. This was the decision of the criminal chamber near the Court of Appeal of El Jadida.
The facts occurred a few months ago, in a rural commune near El Jadida, reports Al Massae. The victim, a minor girl, had filed a complaint with the gendarmerie against her father and uncle. The law enforcement officers then arrested the two accused, who eventually admitted to committing the crime, before the judicial police officer in charge of investigating the case.
The uncle confessed to raping the young girl, who was placed under the responsibility of her paternal grandmother for a time. The father confessed to raping his daughter after her stay at her grandmother’s. He explained that he committed this act under the influence of alcohol because he is addicted to psychotropic drugs.
The trial took place remotely, with the court communicating with the two defendants by videoconference, in accordance with the provisions put in place as part of the state of health emergency. The verdict was handed down: 20 years in prison for each of them.
