Moroccan Court Sentences Two for Rape of Mentally Disabled Child in Ouezzane

Two people were convicted by the Tétouan court for the rape of a child with mental disability. The victim was taken to a forest in the Beni Kela commune (Ouezzane Province) before being raped. The suspects were apprehended by the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of the Ouezzane province.
The main defendant was sentenced to 8 years in prison, while his accomplice received 4 years in prison. In addition, "they will have to pay a fine of 100,000 dirhams" as "civil compensation to be paid to the victim’s father, his legal representative," reports Alyaoum24.
The victim was taken care of by the Moroccan Association of Human Rights in Ouezzane, in collaboration with the local women’s association. They volunteered to appoint a defense lawyer and to provide psychological support to the victim.
