Former Moroccan Lawmaker Sentenced to 5 Years for Raping Disabled Minor

The criminal chamber of the court of first instance of the court of appeal of Fez has just sentenced the former MP Rachid El Fayek to 5 years in prison for the "rape" of a mentally disabled minor.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the politician was also ordered to pay an amount of 80,000 dirhams to the victim as compensation, reports Hespress. The defense of the young girl had claimed an indemnity of 500,000 dirhams, on the grounds that the accused had left the national territory during the month of October last.
The former parliamentarian El Fayek had been brought before the criminal chamber of the Fez Court of Appeal for "human trafficking", "attack on the dignity of a young girl known for her mental weakness and with violence" and "rape resulting in defloration". The case came to light 3 years ago after the publication of a video in which the young girl accused the politician of having raped her.
