Moroccan Couple Dies of COVID-19 on Same Day as Cases Surge

In Morocco, the coronavirus continues to wreak havoc, with an increase in the number of infections and deaths. In Essaouira, a couple died of Covid-19 on the same day.
In this city, a couple and five members of the same family died of the coronavirus on the same day, reports Al Akhbar. The events took place at the provincial hospital in Safi -to which Essaouira belongs- where a 50-year-old woman and her husband were admitted to the intensive care unit. The wife was the first to die. A few hours later, the husband who was receiving care in the same unit was declared dead.
Insufficient number of tests performed, inadequate Covid-19 dedicated facilities (intensive care units), delayed care for symptomatic cases... In Safi, the health situation is critical. Based on these findings, civil society is calling for more resources and attention, especially for people admitted to the intensive care unit.
