Morocco Quadruples ICU Capacity as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Faced with the resurgence of new coronavirus infections, Morocco has increased its bed capacity, quadrupling the number of beds in intensive care and intensive care.
During a webinar of the Moroccan Society of Medical Sciences, led by Dr. My Said Afif, health professionals presented the recent figures of serious Covid-19 cases in the Kingdom.
Out of the 160 hospitals dedicated to Covid-19 in Morocco, 81 have 14,428 beds dedicated to the pandemic and 4,239 beds in 6 field hospitals as of November 11, 2020. At the level of intensive care or resuscitation, 2,676 intensive care or resuscitation beds are now available. According to Dr. Abdelilah Boutaleb, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, the kingdom has doubled its bed capacity for hospitalized subjects. As for the number of beds in intensive care and intensive care, they have quadrupled, he specifies.
For the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, 78% of cases in the Greater Casablanca-Settat can be managed at home (asymptomatic) or isolated at the Casablanca fairgrounds against 22% who are symptomatic. At the national level, 14,577 active cases are taken care of in hospitals, a figure higher than the national public bed capacity (14,428). Despite the efforts of the kingdom, Moroccan hospitals are overcrowded and its bed capacity is already saturated.
