New Moroccan Consul in Barcelona Brings Hope for Immigrant Community

The appointment of the new Honorary Consul of Barcelona has been long awaited and welcomed by Moroccans residing in the city.
After living five years of unprecedented dilettantism and extreme chaos, under the mandate of the current Moroccan Ambassador to Argentina, Yasser Fares, Akhbarona reports that Moroccans in Barcelona are placing all their hopes on the new Consul General, Abdellah Bidoud.
Recognized for his skills and strong dedication, the new Consul General inherits a Consulate with a heavy legacy in which manipulations and multiple aspects of corruption had compromised the interests of Moroccan immigrants, despite numerous appeals and protests.
The site adds that the latest example to date is that of a Moroccan woman buried in a Christian cemetery, or the departure on leave of the former Consul General during a crisis period, situations whose echo had reached the Ministry of Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE).
Moroccans have appreciated the appointment of the new Consul and hope that he will begin with a large-scale operation to clean up the administrative environment of the Consulate.
