Moroccan City Councilor Arrested in Corruption Sting Operation

The elements of the gendarmerie of Sebt Gzoula in the commune of Safi arrested a municipal councilor accused of blackmail and corruption in the exercise of his duties.
According to the facts reported by Al Massae, the arrest of the municipal elected official was made following a complaint from a man, accusing him of blackmail, by demanding a bribe from him, in order to intervene in his favor for the construction of an anarchic habitat.
This deposition was confirmed by a trap set by the gendarmerie investigators in coordination with the public prosecutor’s office. The elected official was placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation and subsequently brought before the Prosecutor who will decide his fate.
