Casablanca Cafe Owner Arrested for Illegal Shisha Service and Attempted Bribery of Police Commissioner

An investigation has been opened in Casablanca against a man suspected of being involved in a case of operating a cafe offering shisha without authorization and for attempting to bribe a police commissioner.
The suspect, a 46-year-old cafe owner, was caught in the act of handing over the sum of 46,000 dirhams, as a bribe, to the head of the Hay Moulay Rachid police district, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the initial elements of the investigation, the individual and other accomplices are suspected of serving shisha to customers. The competent public prosecutor’s office ordered the opening of a judicial investigation against the suspects and all persons involved in this case.
The main suspect was placed in custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the degree of involvement of the managers of the other cafes in the commission of these criminal acts, concluded the DGSN.
