Moroccan Cities Face Growing Wild Boar Invasion, Residents Warn

Many residents of the regions between Ahfir and Berkane have expressed their concerns on social media about the proliferation of wild boars in cities.
Residents have posted on social media videos showing a group of wild boars wandering on the roads at the entrance of the city of Saïdia, late at night, in the middle of cars. In a message accompanying their posts, they have called on road users to be cautious in order to avoid accidents.
The "worrying" proliferation of these wild boars in these urban areas would be explained by the scarcity of food resources in the forests and natural areas, pushing these animals to invest in residential areas and fields in search of food, particularly near landfills.
The wild boars have destroyed the crops of many farmers in the Ahfir regions. Faced with this situation, the latter have called on the competent authorities to take urgent measures to put an end to this phenomenon. They recommend the organization of hunting campaigns, or the installation of traps in the areas concerned.
