Moroccan Cities Dominate Airbnb’s Top 10 Trending African Destinations for 2022

Three Moroccan cities are in the top 19 of trending destinations in Africa. This emerges from the ranking of a community platform service.
To commemorate Africa Day, a global celebration of African culture and heritage, Airbnb has revealed the top 10 trending destinations on the continent for 2022. With Agadir (3rd), Taghzout (4th) and Kénitra (6th), Morocco dominates this ranking. Cotonou (Benin) takes first place, followed by Kinshasa (Congo). Salazie (Réunion Island) ranks fifth, while Dahab (Egypt) occupies 7th place. Vaal Marina and Stellenbosch (South Africa) follow. Hurghada (Egypt) closes the podium.
"The list of the most popular destinations is an overview of the places where customers book and plan to travel on Airbnb. It’s exciting to see such a diverse range of destinations represented across Africa. We believe travel can play an important role in promoting intercultural understanding and this list is an excellent example of how our community connects and celebrates African culture," said Velma Corcoran, Regional Manager for the Middle East and Africa at Airbnb.
