Moroccan Champions Wydad Held to 1-1 Draw by Sudan’s Al-Merreikh in Arab Cup Opener

In the first leg of the 32nd finals of the King Mohammed VI Cup of Arab Champions Clubs, Wydad of Casablanca and the Sudanese club Al-Merreikh neutralized each other (1-1), on Saturday, August 31, in Khartoum.
The spectators who made the trip to Khartoum on Saturday, August 31, could not witness beautiful football as usual. They were content to appreciate an average game that ended in a draw.
However, the locals managed to impress the public with their first goal, scored as early as the 4th minute of play by Walid El Karti, reports hespress.com. Buoyed by this advantage, the Red Devils tried to protect their goal by opting for a defensive strategy.
This technique disrupted the game of the Casablancans. Even the penalty conceded to them in the 37th minute ended in failure, with the blessing of their player, Ayoub El Kaabi, specifies the same source.
Determined to equalize, the Red and Whites created the surprise in the 45th minute, just before the break. The second half, on the other hand, took place without any goals scored on either side. The return leg is scheduled for October 18 in Casablanca.
