Moroccan Boy Dies After 4-Day Rescue Effort; King Offers Condolences to Family

Little Rayan, 5 years old, who fell into a well in the Chefchaouen region, has died, a statement from the Royal Cabinet has just confirmed. Following this tragic accident, King Mohammed VI spoke with the parents of the little boy, Khalid Ouram and Ouassima Kharchich, to whom he expressed his condolences.

Rayan accidentally fell into this well located near his family residence on February 1st. For these four days, the rescuers mobilized by the authorities have worked tirelessly to try to save him.

"Following the tragic incident that cost the life of the child Rayan Aourram, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him, had a telephone conversation with Mr. Khaled Aourram and Mrs. Ouassima Kharchich, parents of the deceased, who died following his fall into a well.

On this painful occasion, His Majesty the King, may God assist him, expressed his deepest condolences and sincere compassion to all members of the deceased’s family in this painful ordeal, the will of God being inexorable, imploring the Almighty to welcome him in His holy mercy and in His vast paradise, and to grant patience and comfort to his family who lost their child.

HM the King, may God glorify him, assured that He had closely followed the developments of this painful incident and that He had given His High Instructions to the authorities concerned to take the necessary measures and to deploy all possible efforts to save the deceased, but the will of God being inexorable, the child responded to the call of the Most High.

The Sovereign, may God preserve him, expressed his consideration for the tireless efforts made by the various authorities, public forces, and associative actors, as well as for the wave of solidarity and the wide sympathy expressed towards the family of the deceased by the various Moroccan categories and families, in this painful circumstance.

In conclusion, His Majesty the King assured the family of the deceased of His High Benevolence and His High Solicitude."
