Moroccan Authorities Set Zakat Al Fitr at 20 Dirhams for Ramadan 2022

The amount of zakat Al Fitr has just been announced by the Moroccan religious authorities, more precisely by the Supreme Council of Ulema (CSO).
For the year 1443-2022, the amount of zakat has been set at a minimum of 20 dirhams per person and this in all regions throughout the kingdom, indicates the Supreme Council of Ulema in a notice.
The amount of Zakat has been estimated taking into account the differences in the prices of cereals. The council explains in a press release that in order to facilitate the zakat to the believer and taking into account the public interest, the jurists have authorized the issuance of the value in cash whereas originally it was given in cereals.
The Council recalled that Zakat is the equivalent of a sa’a, or 2.5 kg of barley, wheat and rice depending on the country, and that it is authorized to pay it three days before Eid Al-Fitr.
It is possible, the Council reminds in its press release, to pay the zakat three days before Eid Al Fitr.
