Moroccan Islamic Council Condemns Controversial Film, Warns Against Screening

For "blatant falsification of the history of Islam", the Supreme Council of Ulema strongly condemns and rejects the content of the film "Sayidat Al Jannah" (The Lady of Paradise), and warns against its screening in Morocco.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Supreme Council of Ulema said it had taken note of the overall content of the film recently produced under the title "Sayidat Al Jannah" (The Lady of Paradise) and noted certain inconsistencies for which this film cannot be screened in cinemas in Morocco.
First, the Council stressed that "the person who wrote the film belongs to a Shiite current. He was stripped of his Kuwaiti nationality for his extremist ideas," and that the film itself "constitutes a blatant falsification of the facts," contains an odious act that cannot "in any way be accepted by Muslim men and women, namely the incarnation of the Prophet."
According to the Council, the film dared to present a distorted image of Fatima Zahra, the daughter of the prophet, by telling lies and reporting facts contrary to the spirit of religion and the reality of history. Apart from Fatima Zahra, the film "Sayidat Al Jannah" is also a series of slanders against Sidna Abou bakr. "Those behind this film are seeking fame and sensationalism, promoting their production, and attracting the largest number of viewers, by offending the feelings of Muslims and inflaming religious sensitivities," it is stated.
For all these considerations, the Supreme Council of Ulema strongly condemns the content of this film and stresses that any "falsification of the facts, which undermines Islam and Muslims, is rejected by all peoples, because it does not serve their higher interests between nations, particularly at this time." This is why the Council calls on the competent authorities to take all necessary measures in this regard.
