Moroccan Artist Faces Backlash After Publicly Declaring Atheism on Social Media

After announcing his conversion to Christianity in August 2018, Walid Walhi is back in the news. Author of a new controversial video, he declares that he now fully assumes his atheism.
Neither Jesus nor the prophet Muhammad for the young Moroccan artist. "I converted to Christianity last August, but nothing seems to have changed. I declare my atheism, because Muhammad, Jesus and even God do not exist and are unfortunately only myths," he announced on his page.
The live announcement provoked the anger of Internet users who called on the authorities to open an investigation, claiming that Morocco is a Muslim country and cannot tolerate such misconduct, let alone the blasphemy of the divine essence and of Islam.
A graduate of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Cairo, and the Higher Institute of Photography in Paris, Walid Walhi is a young Moroccan who spent most of his childhood in Turkey.
