Moroccan Army Chief Makes Historic Visit to Israel for Military Innovation Conference

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) gave a warm welcome to Lieutenant General El Farouk Belkhir, Chief of Staff of the Moroccan Army, who came to participate in the International Conference on Innovation.
"For the first time in history, we are welcoming the Inspector General of the Moroccan Armed Forces, El Farouk Belkhir, to Israel. The IDF Chief of Staff held a guard of honor for Farouk’s arrival at the international innovation conference," the Israel Defense Forces tweeted. In total, 25 military delegations are participating in this one-week conference to discuss common challenges on the modern battlefield.
Morocco is the only African and Arab country participating in the conference this year, with most delegations coming from Europe alongside the United States, Canada, Australia and India. The meeting comes amid growing tensions between Israel and its "traditional enemies" in the MENA region, particularly Iran and its proxy Hezbollah.
Morocco and Israel remain allies against Iran. The two countries continue to engage in strengthening their security cooperation to address emerging and shared security threats.
