Moroccan Anti-Drug Officer Wounded in Sabre Attack, Fires Warning Shots

A police officer from the anti-drug brigade in Tangier was injured with a bladed weapon during a routine intervention on Thursday night to Friday.
Faced with the aggression of four individuals armed with sabres, he used his service weapon, firing three warning shots in the air to defend himself and neutralize the assailants.
The incident took place on a street where the policeman and his two colleagues were patrolling. Targeted by the attackers, the officer was wounded in the thigh. Despite his injury, he retaliated, firing warning shots that put the assailants to flight.
Rescued by his colleagues, the injured policeman was taken to the hospital where he received the necessary care. His condition is considered stable.
Seized of the case, the Regional Directorate of the Judicial Police of Tangier, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the attack and identify the perpetrators. As for the four individuals, they are actively being sought by the law enforcement authorities.
