Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya Manages Embassy Remotely Amid Travel Restrictions

While he was supposed to return to his post in Nairobi after his vacation, the Moroccan ambassador to Kenya, El Mokhtar Ghambou, finds himself stuck in Kenitra due to the suspension of air travel and maritime transport.
El Mokhtar Ghambou was about to join his post in Kenya after spending his vacation between Nador and Kenitra when he was surprised by the suspension of air travel and maritime transport. The Moroccan diplomat kept his tutelary minister, Nasser Bourita, informed of this situation. However, he continues to perform his duties as Moroccan ambassador to Kenya and Burundi by telephone or videoconference.
With the embassy staff present on Kenyan territory, he manages in particular the Moroccan Sahara dossier. Invited to the "The Books Café" program hosted by Kenyan journalist and writer Tony Mochama a week ago, he had denounced the maneuvers of the separatists and their Algerian sponsors, reports Assabah. "There is no conflict around the Moroccan Sahara issue. The conflict only exists in the perverse imagination of the separatists and their Algerian protectors," he had declared.
