Moroccan Agronomist Honored with FAO Gold Medal for Date Palm Expertise

The 41st FAO Congress crowned the efforts of the Moroccan expert in Agronomy, in the field of date palm cultivation, at the Arab and international levels. FAO Goodwill Ambassador Abdelouahab Zaid received his gold medal from José Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the Organization.
Moroccan technical expert with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for 20 years, Abdelouahab Zaid is Secretary General of the International "Khalifa" Date Palm Award, General Coordinator of the International Date Palm Network and Director General of the Arab Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology.
The FAO gold medalist is now Advisor to the Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates and is also the author of several scientific works. He is also the recipient of several awards from the FAO and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development.
