Moroccan Actress Faces Adultery Trial as New Evidence Emerges

The trial of Najat El Wafi and her alleged lover, Said Khalaf, was relaunched by the Public Prosecutor, following the discovery of compromising messages on their mobile phones. A second hearing was held on Wednesday, September 11, in the presence of the actress’ husband.
According to the daily Assabah, the Public Prosecutor ordered the translation of the messages from English into Arabic. The Prosecutor’s Office would like to ensure that they represent evidence of adultery.
The two defendants were embarrassed by the reading of these messages, to the point that the director, Said Khalaf, who had made virulent remarks against the lawyer of the civil party, was reminded to order by the Prosecutor.
Following the consultation of the phones of the alleged lovers, the case was referred back to the judicial police, tasked with establishing a new trial based on the discovered messages.
The daily adds that the actress’ husband still refuses to withdraw his complaint, especially, he says, that he had no problem with his wife, and that she continued to send him messages, while she was going to an apartment in the Gauthier district in the company of her lover, as testified by the neighbors.
