Montpellier Unable to Sign Former Star Belhanda Due to Financial Constraints

While he saw himself already back at Montpellier, his club of heart, Moroccan international Younès Belhanda must forget this dream, which is currently difficult to achieve. Like many clubs, Montpellier is facing major financial difficulties and will not be able to cope with such significant costs.
According to L’Équipe, bringing back Younès Belhanda, with whom Montpellier was French champion in 2012, will not be possible this summer. Yet the player was highly anticipated, since he was fired from Galatasaray in March for "damaging the club". But the club president, Laurent Nicollin, who dreamed of his return, had to face reality. "At the moment, I cannot sign him for financial reasons," the manager also explained to Midi Libre eight days ago. "It would have been fabulous, but for now it’s not possible."
Belhanda has been conciliatory during the negotiations to facilitate his return to the club. But for now he will have to find another club. "As he had made a super effort, we had agreed on the financial plan. I thank him for that, by the way. If he has an opportunity, he can sign elsewhere," he added.
The Atlas Lion had a three-year contract that he was supposed to sign in the coming days. He will have to turn to the many options available to him, including from Al-Hilal, who wanted him in exchange for a 3-year contract and an annual salary of 5 million euros. He was also rumored to be heading to Olympiacos, Valencia or Seville.
