Missing Chinese Tourist Found Safe in Fez, Morocco After Family Alerts Police

A Chinese national who was the subject of a missing persons report filed by her family has been located by the prefectural judicial police service in Fez.

"A man presented himself on Friday afternoon at the Fez police headquarters to report the disappearance of his 22-year-old daughter who, he said, had been in contact with him from Morocco in recent days before her calls were limited to requests for money," states the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release, which led him to believe "that she could be the subject of a restriction of freedom."

"The investigation made it possible to find the young woman on the public highway, in the company of an individual with whom she had become acquainted for some time," the DGSN specifies, according to which she was able to recover her passport from this individual, whose nationality was not mentioned.

The preliminary data from the investigation revealed the absence of any criminal character, it was reported.
