Moroccan Police Inspector Arrested for Bribery and Extortion in Kenitra

A police inspector stationed in the Mehdia district was arrested by the prefectural judicial police service of Kenitra for corruption.
This arrest follows a complaint filed by a man who claims to have been the victim of extortion by a police officer who "demanded a sum of money to refrain from performing an act of his function," indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release, which specifies that the subsequent investigations led to "the arrest of the defendant in flagrante delicto while receiving a sum of money as a bribe."
Placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation, the police inspector has been temporarily suspended from his duties "pending the results of the judicial investigation in order to take the appropriate disciplinary measures," the DGSN said.
