Migrant’s Body Washes Ashore in Ceuta Amid Mediterranean Storms

The waves of the Mediterranean have brought the lifeless body of an illegal immigrant to the shore of Tarajal near Ceuta. The bad weather is once again pointed out.
The storms that the Mediterranean has been experiencing in recent days have not been kind to illegal migrants. The latter, driven by impatience or having made miscalculated choices, still brave the dangers of the rough sea to reach Europe.
A few days after the discovery in Melilla of the body of a woman of sub-Saharan origin, this time it is a man of sub-Saharan origin who has been dead for about three weeks. "The autopsy determined that he had drowned (...). His advanced state of decomposition makes it impossible to know whether he was a man or a woman, as well as his origin. These data could therefore only be confirmed at the time of the analysis of the body," says El Faro de Ceuta. The victim was wearing "a red vest and flippers" when he was found.
In a tweet, the migrant rights activist and member of the Walking Borders association Helena Maleno once again deplores the many human losses. The Mediterranean is so rough that shipping companies have been forced to suspend the line between Ceuta and Algeciras in Spain while human trafficking continues.
