Spanish Authorities Intercept and Return Moroccan Migrants Near Ceuta

They did not reach Spain. Several Moroccan migrants who were already at sea en route to Andalusia were apprehended by the Spanish authorities before being pushed back to Morocco.
In total, 8 migrants, all of Moroccan nationality, had boarded a makeshift boat heading for Spain, but they were apprehended a few kilometers from the city of Ceuta by a Guardia Civil patrol.
According to the local media El Faro de Ceuta, they were all transferred to the headquarters of the National Police in Ceuta, which will then be responsible for repatriating them directly to Morocco via the Bab Ceuta border post.
Still according to the same source, this repatriation comes as several Moroccan families have expressed concern to the local authorities of Ceuta about no longer having news of their children who had taken the direction of the autonomous city with the aim of then joining the peninsula.
It should be noted that an agreement between Morocco and Spain dating back to the time of Driss Basri (1992) provides for the immediate readmission of migrants without the need for judicial intervention. It was only used once last year.
