Messi Likely to Start on Bench for Argentina’s Friendly Against Morocco

Lionel Messi will not be a starter in the friendly match Morocco-Argentina, according to certain media. He will be a substitute. And he could therefore even not play at all, or very little.
While the final list of the Albiceleste Argentine formation is not expected until this Sunday, March 3, according to the American media ESPN, Messi is indeed on the list of called-up players but he will not be in the starting lineup.
A tactical choice of the coach? Or a purely theatrical presence? One might wonder, as the Moroccans, the media, and the Federation continue to insist on his presence and, it must be strangely said now, not only his presence, but also his participation.
Especially since his presence had a cost, and not a small one. We are talking about 500,000 euros spent by the Federation for Messi to be part of the team. It is hard to see the player warming the bench after all this.
Furthermore, according to ESPN, Messi will play the first friendly match of the Argentine national team, against Venezuela, in Spain. It is only for the Morocco match that he will not be in the starting lineup by coach Lionel Scaloni, according to the same source. Let us recall that the match will take place on March 26 in Tangier, and that Mauro Icardi, the star of Inter Milan, will be absent, among others.
