Mentally Disturbed Man Kills Policeman, Injures Son in Moroccan Knife Attack

An individual showing signs of mental disturbance killed Tuesday a policeman and seriously injured his 27-year-old son in a knife attack.
The suspect "attacked the victim without any logical or apparent reason, stabbing him with a knife, causing his death and seriously injuring his son in the abdomen," says the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a statement, specifying that the individual was in the habit of going to the policeman’s home "because of his ties with his children."
The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and the knife used in this crime was seized, the same source said, adding that the investigation will have to determine the direct circumstances of the tragedy and "verify the mental and psychological state of the aggressor."
According to the statement, the director of the DGSN, Abdellatif Hammouchi, decided to grant an "exceptional promotion in favor of the late chief sergeant, raising him to the higher rank," while the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Social Works of National Security Personnel will fully cover the medical and hospitalization expenses of his injured son.
