Medical Team Held Hostage in Moroccan Village Protest Over Living Conditions

The inhabitants of a douar near Boulemane have sequestered all the members of a medical team. By this act, which is a first in the annals of medical caravans in Morocco, they are protesting against their miserable living conditions.
It took the intervention of the auxiliary forces, the Secretary General of the Prefecture and the Prosecutor of the King to put an end to the sequestration of the entire medical staff.
Composed of doctors and nurses, the team of volunteers had presented themselves to the Bouslam douar as part of a free medical caravan, very welcome at this time of great cold.
To their great surprise, the caravan members found themselves prisoners of the inhabitants of the douar, who were calling for an intervention by the authorities to put an end to their suffering in the face of the weather and the recent earthquake that hit the region.
