Al Hoceima Hospital Performs Groundbreaking Urinary Tract Surgery on Cancer Patient

The medical team of the Mohamed V hospital in Al Hoceima has just operated on a woman in her sixties, suffering from total urethral lithiasis, due to a former cancerous bladder tumor.
According to a press release from the regional delegation of public health, the operation, supervised by the kidney and urinary tract surgery department of the Mohamed V hospital, is a first at the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region level.
In order to avoid the laborious conventional surgery, the patient underwent an endoscopic urinary tract surgery, which is a reference in the treatment of lithiasis and bladder tumors.
Less aggressive than conventional surgery, surgical endoscopy avoids wall incisions and their potential complications and ensures a rapid recovery. It also avoids the risk of metastasis of cancer cells.
