Medical Error Nearly Fatal for 10-Year-Old Girl in Moroccan Clinic
A medical error was about to be fatal to a 10-year-old girl during her hospitalization in a private clinic in Tetouan. While she was suffering from appendicitis, the doctors had made a completely different diagnosis.
Sunday, September 29. A 10-year-old child was hospitalized in a private clinic in Tetouan. The differential diagnosis made by the doctors caused doubts in her father, who decided to take her to a clinic in Rabat, after two days of waiting.
Faced with the complication of his daughter’s clinical condition, the father demanded a medical report, which the clinic refused to issue, says the daily Assabah, forcing him to resort to a bailiff.
According to the doctors in Rabat, the young patient had to undergo urgent surgery. The lack of early care had led to the beginning of a perforation of the appendix.
The child, who was about to lose her life, is still in intensive care, due to the complications of appendicitis, adds the daily. The father has decided to file a complaint against the clinic for misdiagnosis, negligence and abandonment.
