Trial Begins for Doctors Accused of Misdiagnosing 6-Year-Old, Risking Her Life

The case dates back to last October, when a 6-year-old girl had narrowly escaped death, after being the subject of a wrongly established differential diagnosis by doctors at a private clinic in Tétouan.
Refusing to perform an ultrasound on her, despite the deterioration of her health, the doctors had insisted that the child was suffering from gallstones.
Three days later, the father was forced to take her to a private clinic in Rabat after her condition had worsened. The diagnosis came down like a guillotine: the little girl was suffering from appendicitis on the verge of causing peritonitis.
The 4 accused were brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Tétouan on Tuesday, January 14; who collected their statements regarding the charges against them, pending the deliberation.
