Massive Iberian Power Outage Disrupts Internet Service in Morocco
Orange Morocco subscribers experienced an internet connection disruption on Monday, due to a massive power outage in Spain and Portugal, according to the operator.
This Internet traffic disruption follows the "massive power outage" in Spain and Portugal "which affects international links," Orange Morocco stated on its X account, concluding its message with a "Thank you for your understanding."
On Monday, the entire Iberian Peninsula, as well as part of France, was in the dark. The cause was "a massive cut in electricity supply," explains the Portuguese manager REN. In Spain, Red Electrica worked throughout Monday and part of the night for a return to normal.
In France, the teams of the electrical network RTE are mobilized to support Spain. Some 700 MW of electricity consumption have been provided, aid that could increase to 950 MW. For now, the exact origin of the outage has not yet been determined.
For its part, Orange Morocco has not provided any information on the restoration of the situation.
