Marrakech Tourist Police Arrest 12,000 for Health Emergency Violations

Just over 12,000 people have been arrested for violating the state of health emergency. With the resumption of tourism activities, arrests have multiplied in Marrakech, one of the cities that has always attracted the most tourists.
These include 1,084 drug dealers, 294 fake guides, 251 people in an advanced state of intoxication, 32 suspects involved in theft cases and 29 suspects who were considered fugitives. They were arrested by the elements of the tourist brigade under the prefecture of the Sûreté of Marrakech.
Since February 2021, the resumption of tourism activities has led to an impressive number of violations of the state of health emergency, especially in Marrakech. In a statement, the prefecture of the Sûreté of the city indicated that 4,657 beggars, vagrants and people suffering from mental disorders have been supported and housed in specialized centers.
