Police Arrest 19 in Crackdown on Fake COVID-19 Health Documents

In order to fight against the use of fake health documents related to Covid-19, the services of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) processed 11 cases and arrested 19 people, including 12 in flagrante delicto of forgery, from September 18 to 24.
Overall, these operations, which have continued since the declaration of the state of health emergency until September 24, have led to the processing of 170 cases and 334 arrests in flagrante delicto of forgery or use of these documents.
Among the accused, 317 were arrested for having falsified COVID-19 screening tests and 17 for promoting smuggled pharmaceutical equipment. The checks carried out as part of these cases led to the seizure of 529 fake PCR tests, as well as the seizure of 24 fake vaccination passports and 47,987 units of Covid-19 rapid tests.
Regarding the areas of operation, Agadir is in the lead with 73 cases, followed by Oujda with 41 cases, Casablanca 13 cases, and Marrakech 12 cases. The Prefectures of Rabat, Fez, Laâyoune, Tetouan, Tangier, Kenitra, Beni Mellal, Meknes, Al Hoceima and Ouarzazate each handled one case.
