Marrakech Tourism Soars: 8% Rise in Hotel Stays, Record Occupancy Rates

The hotel establishments in Marrakech experienced an 8% increase in their overnight stays during the first half of 2019, compared to 2018.
The Tourism Observatory in charge of estimating the number of overnight stays in hotels counted 3,967,857 overnight stays during this period, compared to 3,669,212 in 2018. The occupancy rate of tourist accommodation establishments is estimated at 63% at the end of June last, compared to 58% recorded during the January-June 2018 period, an increase of 5 points.
Better, tourists, at the end of June 2018, enjoyed as much as three days of relaxation as in 2019, the same source points out, specifying moreover that a clear increase of 29% in total overnight stays was achieved by the tourist accommodation establishments of the ochre city.
In addition, 658,715 overnight stays were recorded during the month of June 2019 compared to 509,068 in June 2018, while the occupancy rate stood at 62% last June compared to 48% during the same month of the year 2018.
