Morocco Tourism Surges: Over 5.4 Million Visitors in First Half of 2019

Very good news for Moroccan tourism, whose players can rub their hands. According to statistics from the Tourism Observatory (OTM), more than 5.4 million tourists, including more than 2 million Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), visited Morocco between January and June 2019.
Thus, there is an increase of 6.2% during the first half of 2019 for foreign tourists and 7.1% for Moroccans residing abroad (MREs).
In total, 11.46 million overnight stays were recorded in classified tourist accommodation establishments, an increase of 5% compared to the first half of 2018.
Marrakech and Agadir come out on top with 58% of the total overnight stays recorded. Tangier and Fez account for 11% and 4% respectively. Tourism revenues in Morocco, according to the Office of Foreign Exchange, have seen a significant increase of 13.7%.
